Welcome to the introduction of Piano and Keyboard. In this section we will learn more about understanding and playing the piano, from basic to complex studies. Here we go! You will learn about 48 basic chords! 12 Major Chords 12 Minor Chords 12 Augmented Chords 12 Diminished ChordsYou will have to learn scales as well to understand Chord Structures. A good way to look at a scale is to define its characteristics: - A scale is an organized series of pitches
- A scale utilizes accidentals, when necessary
- A scale consist of a series of notes that differ in sound- A scale is linked to the concept of "Keys" in that a song which utilizes a given scale is said to be in that key (For example: Mary had a little lamb in C major)You will also learn how to read notes for sheet music. You might have heard before that the lines on a music staff read: Every Good Boy Does Fine and the spaces spell F A C E, these are the notes in the Treble Clef. For those of you who know that much, maybe you have also heard of: Good Boys Do Fine Always and All Cows Eat Grass. These are the notes of the Bass Clef. Now if you notice the value of each note in the Bass Clef is read just 2 notes lower than the notes of the Treble Clef. Check this out, if you start on E anywhere on the staff, just remember this pattern E G B D F A C E which will always repeat itself (omitting the sharps and flats). You can read it like this: E G B D F A C E G B D F A C E etc. You will learn about these simple tricks and much more throughout each lessons!
